Buyers of 3D and BIM data
BIM model dataset: who takes building models for AI
Updated
A BIM model dataset is a narrow thing to sell, and most organisations that pay companies for data ask for something else. We read 16 BIM platforms for the terms; this page reads the buyers.
Which buyers name 3D models?
One of the eleven organisations on our buyer board. Shutterstock says its 3D and spatial datasets hold one of the largest licensed collections of 3D models, across architecture, furniture, vehicles and more, all rights-cleared and contributor-permissioned for AI training. Defined.ai runs a marketplace whose page lists audio, video, image, text or multimodal data, with no 3D example as read on 27 October.

How does an owner get in?
Shutterstock's Data Partner Network asks you to describe your content library and says it will follow up. Nyne asks you to get in touch to license your company's data, and Grepped asks a few questions about your company before it shows an estimated payout range.

What do they say about rights?
OpenAI says it is not seeking datasets with information that belongs to a third party, so a model built for a client is a question to answer first. micro1 says companies keep ownership of their underlying data.
